East of the center of Perugia is the Parco del Monte Subasio. Nothing like the tranquility of nature! This park is located on the outskirts of Perugia and is home to a wide variety of trees and plants, such as oaks, pines and chestnut trees. There are also several hiking trails in the park, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. 

Also located to the east of the city is the Bosco di San Francesco. This park is located on the outskirts of Assisi and is home to a forest of oak and pine trees. It is said that St. Francis of Assisi often visited this forest to pray and meditate. So, this wooded area has historical and religious significance.

If you are looking for a more aquatic landscape, west of Perugia you can visit the Parco del Lago Trasimeno (Trasimeno Lake Park). It has several nature reserves, walking trails and bird watching opportunities. It is a quiet area to enjoy the natural environment of the lake. This is the fourth largest lake in the country. It has a surface area of 128 km2 (18 km long and 15 km wide). The lake is a popular destination for tourists, who come to enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking. Exploring for more natural attractions, you can travel a little northeast of Perugia and you will find the Riserva Naturale di Monte Cucco. This park is located about 60 km from Perugia and is host to a variety of wild animals, such as deer, wild boar and eagles. There are also several hiking trails in the park, which offer impressive views of the nearby mountains. Hiking, camping or fishing are some of the activities you can enjoy in this park. You can also visit the Grotta di Monte Cucco. It is one of the largest cave systems in Italy, with a total length of more than 30 kilometers.
